Panel discussion
This session will focus on the ambitions and challenges surrounding offshore energy projects. This year's theme, Wind meets Gas, centers on the realization of large-scale energy projects and the key barriers and opportunities involved. A significant portion of North-Western Europe’s future energy will come from offshore sources, such as the North Sea, with ambitious targets set for 2050, as outlined in the Esbjerg and Ostend Declarations. For example, increasing offshore wind capacity to 300 GW by 2050.
The Baltic Sea also holds considerable potential, with a target of 93 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050 and a collective goal of 19.6 GW by 2030, agreed upon by eight countries.
This panel discussion will explore what is needed to achieve these goals, the importance of international collaboration, and the key enablers and barriers to realizing these large-scale energy projects. Other crucial topics, such as carbon capture and storage (CCUS), high-voltage infrastructure, energy hubs, and hydrogen production, will also be discussed.
