AI gives a voice to nature: A keynote speech by Milan Meyberg (Emissary of Gaia)

Format:In-person
Location:Martinikerk - Het Schip
Track:
Plenary session

What if nature actually had a voice? Would we then take her interests into account in our activities and decisions? It is this idea that prompted Milan Meyberg to develop 'Emissary of GAIA', the initiative with which he won the Marc Cornelissen Brightlands award and the Wubbo Ockels innovation prize. 'Emissary of GAIA' is a new type of AI system that gives ecosystems (such as forests, jungles or rivers) a voice. Milan trains AI models based on ecosystem data and uses them to create avatars that act as representatives of nature. On Day for Doing Thinkers, Milan will take you through a keynote that can change your view of the relationship between humans and nature forever and show how we evolve from an egocentric approach in the 'Anthropocene' to a collectivist 'Symbiocene': a future geological era in which people, nature and technology together create a new balance.

**This is why you should  experience Milan Meyberg’s keynote:

**- Discover the future of how we interact with nature
- Learn how we can actively involve nature in our decision-making.
- Ask nature a question and discover how you can take better care of her.
